Featured County: Hart County
Hart County, located about an hour and a half from Atlanta, Georgia, has a population of approximately 23,000 people. Within Hart County, David Dy, economic developer and former IBM executive, is focused on increasing workforce development opportunities and incentivizing the next generation to stay in Hart County through offering development programs while students are still in high school. David has found that students who receive these workforce development skills in high school receive above average liveable wages upon graduating.. David has worked with various members of the community to raise scholarship money to send these students through a financial literacy program. Once the students graduate this program, they receive a $500 scholarship toward closing costs of a new home in Hart County. This program also educates those after high school and assists with home purchases to help keep the youth in the community.
